Flat Ledge Quarry was actively quarried from 1830 - 1930 and was the largest granite quarry owned by the Rockport Granite Company. The quarry became the heart and soul of what was known as the 'Rockport Granite Company Town Square.' It is now an integral part of Rockport's water supply system. This website details the history and art Flat Ledge engenders. My reflections have led me to the consideration of this space as an example of 'Public Space and Memory.' -LDB
